Sega makes some very strange decisions.

It probably left sales of 1M on the table by not making a Wii version -- which will probably be more than the HD versions sell combined.

(It had been a long time since I had seen a commercial bragging about a game getting 8s -- and Sega is doing that with Sonic Generations).

PS Rayman appears to be great -- although its slow sales (especially on Wii) show that most people don't recognize good 2D platforming.

actually both versions have had a bigger opening than Colors, so if it can keep the same legs they WILL do better than Colors

But the difference is that Colors peaked in Week 6 in NA and Week 7 in Europe.

Combined, Generations on two platforms has just passed Colors (on one).  And that is based upon extrapolation which increased PS3 and Xbox 360 sales from the totals and decreased Wii sales.

That being said, those sales are respectable. I do wonder though which represents the larger profit (potentially higher development costs and porting costs for the HD consoles v. the Wii).

Thats true, but it took Sonic Colors a whole year to hit the million mark. PS360 combined did that in a fraction of the time. Now you might say its not fair to combine the two, but consdering that there are alot more Wiis, than either PS or 360s and that some Ninty fans swear that Sonic is best on Ninty platforms. I still see it as an accomplishment. What interests me the most is that both PS3 and 360 versions INDIVIDUALLY.  So either A) that whole crap about "SOnic on Ninty consoles, blah blah blah" is just that, crap.  B), Sonic Generations is really that much better than Colors or C) Sega gave Generations more attention
