Oh so its similar to the green stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2 or the inverse colored level design in Super Mario World (except for difficulty).

Hey at least it doesnt blatantly tell you to go try a harder mode like in Super Mario Bros....

see?  I'm not the only one who didn't know that?  Take that VGchartz team!  They laughed at me when I complained, apparently it's not so obvious that there are new levels!  I'm not an idiot!

Im pretty sure 90% of the reviews said "its too easy, but then when you beat it, you'll have a HUGE surprise". Some detailed the extra worlds, but most have given it a 10/10 specifically because of the extra game difficulty in the Special Worlds.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
