| Wyrdness said: The Wii is a success even more then a success, it took Nintendo from an unfavourable position and placed them in a commanding one over their competitors, it'll be the top seller for this gen as at the rate PS3 and 360 are selling it would take around 6 years to over take the Wii and neither of them will be around on the market for that long tbh. As for library who here thought the Wii would end up with the library it did this gen, when I bought it at launch I was expecting to solely use it for first party games (which this gen imo has been their best first party performance), the fact that games like MH3, TVC, Goldeneye, Madworld and such started popping up was more then a pleasant surprise as these were games that I doubt anyone expected on the platform. |
The sad thing is there are some people who thought that it wouldnt, but im happy to see some Ninty fans were not living in Dreamland. Look at the damn specs for Wii. Its just a bit more powerful than GC. Look at the HDs, way more powerful. People also forget, that the 360 was already out a whole year before Wii and alot of game were being developed for it already. What were third parties supposed to do?? Throw all that out the window and start from scratch for Wii?? Even if one made the argument that WIi was capable of better looking games, it would still pale in comparison to the competition and people would just buy HD versions of those games anyway, like they have been doing all gen long. Not only did Ninty not really try to get 3rd party support, they made a system that was incompatible with what everyone else was doing for the most part, luckily they have learned and are rectifying, hench Wii U & 3DS
OT, yes it was a success and yes it did bring people to play certain games that they would not have played before.
OT
