Ok, i wasnt disputing the $400 price, i just wanted a link :P Ok, well, i never ever said in my post that the 360 and PS3 price drops caused their sales to drop. I did not say that. I said "in the short term there will be a significant sale increase, but not in the long term if price cuts are done repeatedly". Constant price cuts can make the consumer cautious; an example (maybe not a very good example, but an exemple nonetheless) is with HD DVD. There were constant HD DVD price cuts, which begs the question -that some consumers asked-, "Why has there been another price cut?". This then lead to insecurity about the format, such as beliefs that it was put at a cheaper price to match the "superior" blu ray format. This isnt a very good example, as Blu ray had massive advantages over HD DVD, but i hope from this you will be able to catch my drift on what i was saying. About your changing argument.. well, im sorry if i misaccused you there, but from your multiple arguments i just saw constant changes, and it ended up being very little about the original subject. About the PS3 selling more than the 360... well, for how long has it been selling more than the 360? Not very long, and things do change. Only time will tell whether the 360 will go ahead again or stay behind. How will the PS3 outselling the 306 hurt them in the long run? well, it wont... i didnt say that if i recall correctly :P |
ok so u jumped in for nuthin (o look spelling)
and common sense (which some do not have) would tell you HD-DVD was already being outsold SINCE IT DROPPED so THATS is the ONLY reason people didnt care if the price changed. evryone wants blu-ray and thats why the price dropped because it was failing. 1 million HD-DVD players almost 10 million playstation 3s. people want the playstation not the HD-DVD and another price drop in THIS CASE will only help.. as the last price cut had long term effects. i do not think the ps3 ever outsold the 360 as it is now. so there is your long term for you.
