IMO, the most important thing is the collecting. There are very much pokemon and a lot are very difficult to get. some you have to level up because they'll become another pokemon after they reach a certain level, on others you have to use an item. then there are some which you can only get in one version (which is annoying i think) and then there are some which you can only get at the beginning and you can only get one out of three. this is just damn addictive and made me play Red/Blue and Gold/Silver for around 150 hours each.
