Its kind of a neat RPG. You start with one Pokemon on your team and throughout the game you can catch any amount you wish. Your team can consist of up to 6 pokemon. They can be different or the same ones or whatever you want, however they all have different types. ex. Fire, Grass, Steel, Pyschic and so on (I think there is somewhere around 20 different types now). Each pokemon can learn a maximum or 4 different moves. different moves also have different types just like pokemon. The story in the games is usually pretty weak but during the story they give you get a good idea of a lot of the different kinds of pokemon and what types work well (or not so well) against other types (such as water is good against fire and electric is good against water and some not so obvious ones). The best part of the game in my opinion is after your finished it. You can build your perfect team of 6 and they have to be diverse enough to handle another trainer with his own team of 6. In the old ones it was kinda lame as you had to actually go link your cable up to someone elses gameboy and you looked like an idiot, but with the new ones you can do it online so you dont feel like a child. Its a really challanging game with a lot of depth in the customization of team possiblities. There is just under 500 pokemon total now with all the games combined that you can use to create your team so possiblities are almost endless. as well as the hundreds and hundreds of different moves. anyway thats just me quick little explaination of the pokemon games. i hope i was a little helpful.
