Truth generally be better, explain why, get yelled at, but at least you know how and why. Although if your parents are the "Throw you through the walls" type, well, feel free to tell the truth after putting on padded clothing.
Although my attendance at high school was around 60% of all classes, and at University it dropped to 10%. I hated class, but liked learning. Class was full of stupid people who would take 1 hour to learn a 3 minute lesson.
