I don't really pay attention to hype, it makes you buy games which are just name brands. I look at reviews and if they are good, even if just on one site, I play the game. Before I did this I missed out on a lot of great games like Chrono Trigger, Pikmin, Too Human, Fire Emblem, and well most niche JRPG's. Anyway... you make a good point, it will get great scores, but sales are by no means garenteed to be good. I expect only about 1 million sales per console (it will come to PS3), it won't even compare saleswise to Skyrim. I say 1 million because that's about how well Crysis did, and that was a well reviewed PC sequal. |
Crysis 2 had a decent marketing push, was an FPS and had the "best looking console game" hype pre launch even if it didn't live up to the hype that pushed the game.
The Witcher 2 will probably get next to no advertising, is a hardcore story focused WRPG and also a very late port. It will be lucky to do 500k LTD. It does have a core following but mainly in Europe where 360 isn't that popular. Similar games would be Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (460k), Dark Souls (0.35) or even Dungeon Siege III (210k) exept none of those were late ports. As for PS3 it's unlikely at this stage that it will be released maybe The Witcher 3 will make it to PS3 but I don't think a PS3 port of a over year old game, it took them more than 6 months to make a 360 port, PS3 would be harder plus they would need to devote resorces to TW3.
