$299-$399 ps3 price point a crucial factor

considering that PS2 hit the $199 mark in 2002 and it's currently 2008, i'd say it has more to do with the 'magic' of time rather than price.

If it had stayed at $299, sales would have continued declining instead of increasing.  It has very much to do with price -- each time you lower the price, more people are willing to buy your product.
