If the Mayans were so smart, how come they got annihilated by the Spanish ?

Guns and steel from 16th century  vs. primitive weapondry.

fixed it for ya

Indeed but advantageous none the less.

bow and arrow were a lot more effective back than

Took some time off from posting for the holiday.

I can't argue against the awesomeness of the bow and arrow as a weapons system but I'm not sure if it was the weapon of choice for either the Maya or Conquistadors. I believe it was mostly close quarters combat, Spanish steel vs. Stone Aged types of maces and clubs. Then there was the armour the Spanish were rocking, another advantage. Add some loud ass thunder sticks to scare the shit out of the natives and it should be obvious who had the upper hand in battle.

I think that with the way the uninformed masses are hyping up this Mayan doomsday bullshit, I wouldn't be surprised to see some radical assholes use this date to commit some terrorist activities.

Heavier armour also means slover movement, but you right about everything else. But the savages also had numerous advantages as well. In the end, i believe that better warfare experience and training  as well as stronger, better trained soldiers were the key to spanish victory
