because the market is dominated by nintendo. sony had to learn this - possibly vita can become a success. but especially vita will have to survive the market while smartphones get more and more powerful - both processor and graphics. i don't want to see the market for mobile gaming consoles fading but in my opinion sony has to push the vita *a lot* to make it stand up against the mass of competitors. the 3ds is another story - it is not high-tech hardware and never wanted to be. it sells because of (nintendo) games and obviously, this strategy was, is and will be nintendo's key to success.

I'm sorry, are you implying that the PSP was not a success? Is this an opinion formulated by yourself? Because selling 71.8 million units in a market dominated by nintendo is damn good and a major success in its own for any company. If the vita can sell 70+ million then it will be a success as well as the PSP.

I didn't even mention the psp? But still: looking at nds ww-sales and recent 3ds-sales, Big N *is* dominating mobile gaming, done. Nevertheless, the psp constantly sold over years, resulting in good ww sales.
The competition for Vita is by far harder as I mentioned in my original post. Nothing more, nothing less.
