Ron Paul supporters seem to have pulled off another successful money bomb today. I went to bed at 2 am Monday morning and he ~1.4 million for the quarter, he is currently at ~3.1 million for the quarter. Thats pretty amazing considering his other money bombs, and I consider this impressive internet-based grass routes movement to be the real Ron Paul Revolution. Makes me wonder what kind of money he'll raise on President's Day...
From what I hear from some friends in New Orleans he has been advertising in Louisiana for the caucus tommorow, and few others have been. Supposedly in the wake of Katrina and Rita there is a sentiment among many on both the right and the left that FEMA is completely incapable of hurricane relief, and Paul is drawing support from those who are still waiting for relief from the government. These people seem to think charitable organizations would do a much better job. Its going to be interesting tommorow.
With Thompson likely to drop out, Guiliani (he isn't even listed on the NYTimes candidate guide anymore) now trailing Mccain in NY, CT, NJ and Florida and not paying some of his staff, I think you're likely to see Romney, Mccain or Huckabee starting to consider Paul's positions on issues, if for no other reason than to tap into his ardent supporters.
Still hoping for a Huckabee vs. Bloomberg vs. Paul vs. Obama general election. Imagine a Bloomberg-Paul third party ticket - that would be a force to be reckoned with, especially with Bloombergs capacity to get on every ballot.
