Anyway, The Wi Fi version is sold out so This is really bad! Bomb I tell you! Bomba I tell you!

I saw the wifi version in stock yesterday (Monday, day 3 of Vita sales) when I went to check out some stores in my city.

I was thinking about trading in my psp and getting a wifi vita. Still unsure about it though.

I know it's only Amazon. XD

Yeah, I know, but I'm talking about actual Electronic/Game stores that also sell online. Like:

The first two, I was in their B&M stores as well yesterday.

Anyway, since I was mainly planning on using the Vita for videos and stuff like that(not games) I decided to buy a used Ipad 1 instead. I got a used 64gb ipad wifi/3g model for less than the price of a wifi Vita and 16gb sony card, or about the same price as the 3g Vita with no memory card. I still might sell my PSP though, depends on if I get a psp game for christmas or not.

I was planning on buying a vita just to use as a paperweight, but then I went outside, picked up a rock and glued a feather to it and it works just as well.

Seriously, why would you even think of buying a vita just for videos? That's like people buying an iphone just for angry birds.

But you bring up the biggest POTENTIAL problem of the Vita, something the PSP suffered from forever.  And that is games.  I see in this topic many brought up Call of Duy.  Ha, first how has call of duty done in past on handhelds?  Second, why would someone get call of duty twice.  IF they already have the game on ps3 or 360, why get it on vita as well.   If Vita doesn't get a good catelog of UNIQUE games, they are in a world of hurt.

What do they have worth getting right now?  Uncharted.  Is that it?

Previous versions of CoD for handhelds were retarded dumbed down ports. This will be first same as HD version portable CoD.

That's the main problem I see.  Not that its a port of an old amazing game like say Ocarina, but that its the exact same game as an HD system game being relased (same time?)  Call of Duty sells what 10 million games easily?  I just have a hard time seeing ANY of those people switching over to Vita.  If those 10 million want the next call of duty, they WILL get it for the home console system of their choice.  Now some of them will get BOTH the Vita verson and the console version, but do you really expect that to be a big number.  Sorry but I just can't see millions of americans buying a $60 game twice (what is vita, $40, $50, $60)  regardless of its price, its another chunk of money.

And we should probably reduce that 10 million as well, because realistically the people who would even buy both would probably be people that buy the ps3 version of call of duty, since i imagine there would be benefits in having both ps3 and vita version compared to 360 an vita version.  I highly doubt 360 users will buy the vita version. They would have to play on home console on the 360 name, then portable on their psn.  Not likely.

If nintnedo REMADE ocarina of time for the Wii, and released at same time as the 3DS.  I would not have bought both versions of the SAME game.  I would have only bought the wii version, OR only the 3DS version.  NOT BOTH.  I see Vita games who are dual systems like this Call of Duty doing about as good as the super expensive $100+ game versions.  Its only going to be those select few diehard fans that would see the need to buy the same exact game twice.

Sure the idea of playing your home game on the road sounds appealing, but you will be surprised how quickly that will wear off.  I can see maybe the first of these types of games doign not too bad, but then all those that bought it realizing that they played the game 99% of the time at home and thus the next time, totally ignore the Vita version.  Now take a quick glance and tlel me how many places offer free wifi, that you would be able play online anyway?  I found out pretty quickly with my ipod touch that wifi isn't EVERYWHERE.  For teh most part, i can only do stuff online with my wifi at HOME, a FRIENDS HOUSE, or at Barnes and Noble.  So don't expect to just plop down anywhere and boot up call of duty and play online throguh wifi, and we are all smart people and know that 3G is a joke and won't be playing games with that.

Until Activision announce what their plans are for COD on the Vita I don't think it's worth speculating what it'll be like. I've always viewed it taking a step away from being about online multiplayer, and instead sort of pushing the whole local wi-fi 4 player coop stuff. Zombies, Spec Ops or whatever... where you can like use the NEAR functionality to do co-op with randoms on the street etc. I think Vita lends itself nicely to that, especially with all the social features shown off for a game like Unit 13. Throw in a Vita specific campaign using all the touch screen and stuff and the COD brand and you have a game that could sell a few million copies.

It really depends on what Activision feel like doing, I think the straight port stuff isn't awful if they do a combo-pack for the same price with cross platform and everything. Charge like $70 for PS3 retail copy + download code for Vita... I'd imagine Activision are wayyyyyyy too stingent to do anything like that but it sounds like something which a few games are gonna do.
