The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world in 2012, some guy named Robert Sharer did in 1983 said they did so people would buy his stupid book. Then they brought back the ridiculous 80's myth to sell a movie and make money off of morons.
The Mayans had no apocalypse myth/tradition, and the date (2012) was not the ending of their calendar either.
The whole 2012 thing is even more moronic than the notion that the world was going to explode because of the Y2K monster.
