A little push in Europe by way of a price cut and this would have happened.

Could you change the record, please? It gets really tyring that every post of yours ends with "pricecut"

Here is a little info about "pricecuts" - looking at prices (which include all store margins and taxes, start of December prices - current prices):

PS3 160G $229 - $259

PS3 320G Move bundle $289 - $329

PS3 320G Plain Silver box $333

XBox 250G bundle (incl. 2-3 games) $199 - $199

XBox 250G Kinect bundle (Box, Kinect, 3 games, 3month free Live) $289 - $259

Standalone Kinect bundle $139 - $99

As you can see, PS3 prices actually INcreased, while XBox stuff is sold at a (considerable) loss to MS. No surprise that more XBoxes are sold than PS3s currently over here.

I wasn't aware you were privy to the actual manufacturing costs of the 360.  It is highly unlikely they are making a loss at all and certainly not considerable given the length of time since their last price cut.  In fact it is almost certain that sony are losing more money on hardware than Microsoft.

Any proof?

Other than financials showing one company in healthy profit and the other not then no.  The fact they have cut the price recently on the PS3 is suggestive though as Sony traditionally have sold the PS3 at a loss or tight margin this gen in an effort to keep pace with Nintendo and Microsoft.
