I just never could get passed Tom leaving Dafoe to die. i am happy that years later he got that fake beating in inception. or was it fake?

Nope, it wasn't for you. After all if only you voted it down it would still be there.

And yes, Sgt Elias' death (Dafoe) was very sad, but Barnes (Berenger) got what he deserved at the end.
