Correct me if I'm wrong but no specific dates are given for his birth, and I doubt that the Jesus that we know in the bible ever existed, most of his story is either plagiarised or lacks any historical evidence -- but that's for a different topic :P
I think christians may aswell continue to celebrate christmas as the birth of Jesus, it may not be accurate, but it's still symbolic right? It's just unnecessary to move it.
If the problem is people being ignorant of the real origins of christmas, maybe this should be taught in R.E?
