thx1139 said: Pending any adjustments with the Dec 10th number the PS3 leads the 360 by 740,965 with 3 weeks left.
Last year Dec 3 week 360 out sold PS3 by 45,789 this year 91,209 Last year Dec 10 week 360 out sold PS3 by 74,826 this year 150,968 Last year Dec 17 week 360 out sold PS3 by 163,638 this year ???,???..Im guessing it will double again Last year Dec 24 week 360 out sold PS3 by 182,325 this year ???,???..Im guessing it will double again...Maybe more because this year Christmas is Sunday rather than Saturday so extra day of sales.
So comes down to the last week. Does 360 continue to beat the PS3 because of no shortages and deals or does the PS3 take the year. It will be close. |
Ppl still ignoring the FF XIII-2 limitted edition PS3 on Japan... the 360 next week will most likely have a smaller lead tham it had this week.
|
No I am not. Just dont think that a sequel on the same console will move that much more hardware special edition console or not. Especially with 2 new handheld consoles launched in the same region this year. In a region that is moving more and more towards handhelds.
|
Special editions move consoes in Japan, Tales of Xillia had an opening week of 600k and boosted Ps3 sales for about 60k and that was on non holiday season. XIII-2 will likely have a 500-700k first week and will boost Ps3 numbers by at least the same amount as Xillia did, maybe the gap wont be the same as it was this week and actualy grow in favor of MS but it probably wont be the 320k youre predicting.
|
Was Tales of Xillia a direct sequel to another PS3 game? We will see. OK? If 60K is the number you are looking at then yea I am very comfortable with my prediction.
|
So youre saying that the PS3 can have a "free" 60k bonus next week that has nothing to do with the overall growth of sales and would still get outsold by 320k ? Youre expecting the 360 to sell how much exactly ? Also the bigger the gap was last year the less likely it is for it to double this year, youre using the same criteria the dude who made those extrapolations based on the 360 Black friday did, by his numbers the 360 would already be tying with the PS3.
Also the fact that XIII-2 is a sequel has nothing to do with the fact that ppl who like Lightning will buy the limitted edition PS3 with a freaking Lightning Drawing stampped on it...
|
I base it on the fact that From Dec 3 to Christmas week last year sales in NA doubled last year. The rest of the world increased by 25%.
I base it on the fact that NA is where the 360 is now the dominant console with all the buzz.
I base it on the fact that every week the lead has doubled.
I base it on the fact that last year Christmas week was 6 days and this week it is 7 days.
I base it on the fact that every week retailers are making more and more special deals for 360s and the $ value is increasing. I expect several retailers to offer $100 gift cards on various 360 SKUs next week. The PS3 has had some deals, but not nearly as much and they only had the holiday bundle for BF week which lead to a spike that wont repeat next week.
I dont base it on a fact people like lightning and will buy a console simply because of a lightning drawing on it.
So I can easily see the 360 repeat Black Friday week success. That was a 366K difference over the PS3.
|
366k on this week on top of the XIII-2 boost? So you are expectin the 360 to sell more this week worldwide tham it did on Black Friday ? If youre talking about the Christmas week them youre probably right, id go as far as say youre underestimating it and the lead will be around 400k for the 360, what Im saying is that this next week (the one ending the 17th) probably wont see a lead of 322k for the Xbox as youre prediciting.
|
Last year both the week of christmas and the week before sold more than BF week by a good amount. So why isnt that possible this year. Certainly more availability this year.
