It doesn't seem likely to happen. After 6 years on the market, it has sold 34 million, the Wii is closing in on 43 million after 5 years. That is a nearly 9 million unit gap that has to be closed, the gap has largely been there for about 3-4 years now, and I don't see why it will be much different before the next generation begins; or afterwards.

 

The Xbox 360 might get ahead of 43 million in 2 years, but in two years the Wii will also be much further ahead of that. By that point system sales will be minute for both consoles, and the next generation will have already begun.
