I'm waiting for the PS3 to die so that I can buy one (maybe second hand) for playing with the Cell for audio programming stuff... I'd never buy one now because they're too expensive and I don't want to help the PS3 survive anyway...
Maybe that's the ultimate purpose of the PS3, to make for a cheap Cell for programmers to play with...
PS: I also hope that if/when the PS3 is axed, the existing ones can still contribute to folding@home
