I think this isn't a situation where a Wii port would have been easy and it probably would have cost them more money than its worth. It looks like that the dev platform for this was the PC version and comparing that version to the HD consoles almost makes it appear like a next generation game.

Compared to the PC which looks phenomenal and plays butter smooth, the HD twins are stuck with 30 fps (or less), sub 720p resolution, washed out colors, jaggies all over the place so essentially they are already a downgraded ports. The 30 fps really hurts the experience and I really don't think that Sega could have downgraded the game any further for the Wii without a major overhaul to the game.

Funny thing is that I made this exact thread a year and a half ago when I heard Sonic Colors is not coming to Ps360. Luckily then I discovered Dolphin...

Is the PC version that much better? I have it for PS3 and I didnt notice any problems. You're right that downgrading to WIi would not have been easy and it probably would have sucked and people most likely would have picked up the HD version like they do for most games anyway, but they still coulda taken the 3ds verison and put it on WIi just to calm the vocal minority down

It really is. I bought and beat the 360 version first and too didn't see any issues with the games visuals.

Then I tried the PC version and since I've traded the 360 version. It really looks far superior on the PC, mostly due to much crisper collors and twice the frame rate. Also Sonic Generations looks great in 3D and PC version here really shines. 1080p per eye vs 360p upscaled to 720p...not contest really.

They possibly could have ported the 3DS verson to the Wii like you mentioned, but it probably wouldn't look so hot on a big screen. 3DS hides a lot of detail loss with 3D and a smaller screen.

Unfortunately I think that for this game, Wii was just stuck between beeing not good enough and too good to port either version of the game.

interesting, if I ever get a better PC, ill have to try it out. Yeah Wii only owners are screwed, but whatcha gonna do??
