As far as I know, Miyamoto was heavily involved in the creation of the 3DS (moreso than with any previous system) and it was off to the worst start for a Nintendo handheld ever. |
As for his stepping down, its better it happened sooner than later. And its good to hear he's going to be developing small projects. As for the 3DS's horrible start, Shigeru can't take any blame for that. Well, except for maybe the fact that the 3DS only has one slide pad, which is something Nintendo regrets.
