But in the end, Nintendo managed to make profit; unlike Microsoft, they lost 4 billion with the xbox. Xbox production was ceased after just four years on the market.

Would you have really expected Microsoft to turn a profit with its first-ever console? Knowing the financial challenge of breaking into the console market, taking a loss was required in order to gaina foothold for the successive generation. And look how that turned out. Also, your point about Microsoft ceasing production after four years is also irrelevent; if anything, it's even more impressive that Xbox outsold Gamecube when it had even less time on the market.

That said, I own both consoles and love them both.

At least a little bit. If Sony, as well as many others, and Nintendo were able to
turn a profit with their first console, then why couldn't Microsoft. But I guess that was the price for creating a powerfull console (at the time) with PC-like hardware. It was a cool console nonetheless-both were.
