Xbox 360 tops US but PS3 leading worlwide?

...and how can you dominate globally if you are last by a mile in the biggest market on the globe? I know the US isn't the world, but it is still part of it.

Neither does the 360, if you are talking about total install base.

 

If you are talking about currently, the PS3 dominates Japan.  But, I forgot - Japan doesn't count.

2nd Q shipments seem to say the PS3 dominated the 360 by quite a bit.

Japan counts.....but compare what the average sales of hardware are there compared to those in the US, not to mention Japan doesn't have Black Friday deals. Ya.....Japans kinda insignificant by comparison. 

Also relevant to say that since Sep 2008 360 had no price cuts. None. PS3 had one in 2009 ($100) and again this year ($50). PS3 isn't dominating so much as clawing and scratching to play catch up, as it is still last place.....and bleeding alot of red ink.
