Which Mario Kart is the best?

I voted for Double Dash but I think it's greatly influenced by my situation when I bought that game. I was still living at home with my two brothers so we played the hell out of that game, always doing the All Cup (all 16 tracks in random order).

The battle mode was not as fun as Mario Kart 64's but it was MILES better than what we got in MK Wii. Also the shine thief variation was a great addition.

Haha, 100% what I was going to write :D In my case it was my former flatmate, we played one All Cup every day. And the Shine Thief game!

DD had super tight driving, some wonderful tracks (Wario Colosseum, Yoshi Circuit, Dino Dino Jungle, Baby Park, ...), and the character specific items were so silly - I loved spamming the track with Bananas.

And the Ska title theme rocks!

EDIT: And I forgot that my then girlfriend (who was not a gamer) loved being in the co-driver's seat, punching the other karts off the track and laughing her ass off... good times.
