They could have put another battery into the add-on itself, doubling the life of the console...I don't know why they didn't, the space for such a battery was there after all.
|
Because it would increase the cost several times ?
|
Would it really increase the cost that much? They wouldn't have to include an actual battery, just the required circuitry to make it supply power to the 3DS, though that may be easier said than done...
Does anyone know how the circle pad communicates with the main console? Is there some kind of data port or is it done wirelessly?

Battery would probably cost more than the whole thing currently costs to produce. It would also add more weight as looking at offers in net even chinese knock of batteries for PSP cost few euro and better quality ones around 10.
And also how would they sell people redesign with bigger battery and second analog built in? ;)

why bother replying if you didn't actually read my post?
I said they could sell the battery separately only for those who wanted it... the main concern was if it is at all technically possible to have the add-on supply power to the main unit in the first place? The fact that capcom had to use their own battery for the add-on would suggest the two aren't connected.

Of course it would be possible to design it so it connects to main battery in the same way as current battery extender packs for 3ds are done.
