In which case Nintendo still would like to keep him around, but not with as much power as he currently has, doing it in a manner that makes it look like everything is fine to the public. As far as I know, Miyamoto was heavily involved in the creation of the 3DS (moreso than with any previous system) and it was off to the worst start for a Nintendo handheld ever.


The worst thing that can happen to the company is if he left "feet first".  (even though that's how he will really leave)
