It could be that Ueda's departure is up in the air, and this exec leaving could change his outcome.
After all, it's the executive producer's job to ensure a game arrives on time and up to par. Ueda and Hayama butting heads could be a partial cause of the Last Guardian's lengthy development cycle.
Though we may never know the specifics of what's going down. If Team ICO dissolves, I hope we get a good postmortem on what happened during the Last Guardian's development to cause it all to happen.
