Yea, I am not too sure where all this comparison to the GC is coming from. For it to be the another GC they would just release an updated system with a bland, dual analog controller. Nintendo has been focusing more and more on controls (they always have but I would argue more now with the DS, Wii and now Wii U controller). Controls are the most important aspect of gaming. Graphics are easily behind controls. Only graphic whores think otherwise.
