Or like I originally said, they're talking about shipments. Which is perfectly fesible. Day one/week = 3.8 or more. Day one/week U2 = 1.9 or less going by sales.

If that's the case, then why wouldn't Sony just say Day 1 instead of Week 1? If they ARE in fact talking about day 1 shipments of course.

That's what I'm thinking.  There's no point to talk about how much they shipped Day 1 and then go on to talk about how much they sold Week 1.  It would be redundant because both of those numbers would be the exact same.
