A search for wii game drought on google produces 738k results. The Wii has 1316 games in the VGChartz databse

A search for ps3 game drought produces 80k results. The PS3 has 823 games

A search for xbox 360 game drought produces 524k results, the 360 has 976 games.

It is not simply my claim that drought is unrelated to number of games, it is the claim of the vast majority. We are the 99% - join us, or leave our internet.

i'm really not sure what yyour point is scottie

People have claimed the Wii is in a gaming drought for the majority of its life. This is despite the fact that it has, at all times of its life, had significantly higher numbers of games released than its competitors. Thus, thismein cannot be correct in his argument that Vita is not in a drought 'because it has a lot of games'. I am in fact correct in saying that (like the 3DS at launch) it is in a drought because it does not have any high selling games that will push hardware.

you shouldn't even bother getting into that kind of conversation and high profile games doesn't mean  the drought isn't there. the Wii has gone very long periods of months without games being released, but i'll say this. while that may be the case it's not like Wii needed any new ip. next time somebody says the Wii went through a drought you remind them what the top 5 biggest selling games are in the 7th gen and how long they continued to sale, and if that doesn't shut them up then...................................................

also Vita has 80 games coming out during its launch window so i see no drought. the drought will be based only between the time the last game released and how ;ong it takes till the next game is released, and how many games came out before the drought started. for 4 of the 5 yr.'s of the PS3's life, Sonys first party has released 8 to 15 ip in those yr.'s which no other publisher has ever done this gen. i'm not getting a vita because of high profile games. i'm getting one for the possibilities Vita presents and Gravity Rush/daze is the start of those possibilities. i'm likely not to buy one game that i can find its counter part on home consoles.

@ o_O.Q - to a certain extent it is a shame, but that is just the facts. Gaming hardware will be pushed next gen by GT, Mario, Pokemon, Final Fantasy and the like. There is still lots of scope for new IP - Monster Hunter is now a powerhouse and it was only created 2 gens ago. A lot of new IP Wii games ended up selling lots of hardware. Gears became a powerhouse straight away and some of Sony's new franchises could become so if they are treated right.

agreed.
