The Vita's pre-orders are lacking! Is this going to be a problem for Sony?

You may not like it, but it's true.  If the 3DS had remained $250 against a $250 Vita, there is no question the Vita would have crushed it. 

And drought?  They have 26 games ready for launch, with ~70 more to be ready in the coming months.  How is this a drought?

Quantity of games is not what I am refering to. Take the highest selling vita game that has been announced, throw out a name. Any name, your choice.

PSV has a very significant game drought - it has a lot of games that will sell moderately. It does not have any big games. It absolutely needs at least 1 game that can compete with the 6 mentioned above for sales by Christmas 2012. The only franchises that I can see pulling this off are; GT, FF, DQ or GTA. DQ seems likely to stay with Nintendo considering the success of the DS version, so that leaves 3 possibilities.

i think its pretty sad that not having old recycled ips to clash with other old recycled ips from another platform is seen as a bad thing... i thought that gamers were supposed to be eagerly awaiting new ideas?... but sure beyond that i agree that from a sales point of view the games you mentioned are probably bigger than anything the vita will have at launch
