how about the RAM the 3DS has?
it's called FCRAM. Don't remember the exact specs, but it's said to be blazing fast, plus not as unbelievable as having such an insane amount of eDRAM. IIRC the 3DS has 128 MB of the stuff. It's similar to DDR 3 memory but offers some unique features that aren't found in any other kind of RAM currently on the market, which have the potential to give huge performance boosts if used correctly. I seem to recall a developer mentioning something about the Wii U having a unique memory architecture that once figured out was fantastic.
I'm may be completely off, but one of the things I love about Nintendo is their clever use of unconventional hardware. I wouldn't rule out 768MB of RAM until we know more about the architecture.
