However if the console isn't 50% more powerful then the PS3 and the next Xbox comes next year I might find myself for the first time since GBA not buying a Nintendo console launch date. If I have to choose between a PS3 with a tablet or a next generation Xbox I will have to go with the next generation Xbox. It used to be that Nintendo's games made the choice pretty much a no brainer but Microsoft's software catalog has vastly improved since 360's launch. If this is true I am very dissapointed in Nintendo. Because it would mean Nintendo cut corners rather then taking a loss on decent hardware at a reasonable price they degraded the hardware to shit so that they could launch at a profit and/or cheaper price tag. Nintendo is a company respected for its high quality hardware and cutting corners like this is unacceptable the Wii wasn't even less powerful then the Xbox as this article claims the WiiU less powerful then PS3. I refuse to believe this claim until I hear a more reputable source confirm it or Nintendo themselves. Their are conflicting reports some developers say Nintendo is improving hardware capabilities while others say Nintendo is cutting corners and going cheaper and cheaper. Its hard to know which sources to believe. But if Nintendo is indeed going cheaper and cheaper they will lose a shit load of my respect and also that of many others. The reason I am so excited for WiiU is the 1080p at 60fps that I have heard it can process. It being 50% more powerful then PS3 is enough for me to be satisfied that its a next generation console and throw in the controller and a couple first party games and I can't possibly pass up a purchase. But if Nintendo releases a PS3 level console or worse. Incapable of producing 1080p and 60fps and the tablet is indeed watered down as reports are saying using a cheaper touch screen and cheaper plastic, metal and internal tech. Then I will have to pass at launch if Microsoft launches in a similar time frame. Even if Nintendo released the best software they have in years I couldn't justify buying a PS3 with a cheap ass tablet when the next Xbox is on the market. If Nintendo cuts corners like this they will lose a lot of customers at launch, especially if they face a competitor with a solid piece of hardware. Software is very important but Nintendo can't release software inferior to last generation or even inferior to what they already announced. I will not spend money on something that isn't capable of doing what Nintendo promised! |
WiiU will be good. After reading some analysis and speculation about the specs, I concluded that the main factor that puts WiiU wai higher than PS3 and X360 is GPU, overpowering not only by raw power but because a new gpu supports modern effects.
The graphics in comparison to X360 will probably be a little more than the difference between a PS2 and a Wii.
It is not much more powerfull than current gen systems, but the better GPU will probably ensures 720p+ for all games(and 1080p for at least some, if not for the majority of games) and more consistent graphics(like less aliasing and frame dops). But i am not expecting 60 fps for all games.
WiiU remembers me of Dreamcast in a lot of ways. The Tablet vs VMU, and especially the releasing time. WiiU will have games from X360/PS3 and will outpower them, but until X720 and PS4 releases.
I think that the most important question is not how much the WiiU outperforms PS3 and 360, but how much will be lacking in relation to 720 and PS4. Maybe the next generation will not have monster graphics at all....Nintendo needs to ensure that, even if the graphics would not be very good, the games of 720 and ps4 are compatible with WiiU.
Then Nintendo can have a monster line-up and probably win Next-Gen.
