Isn't MGS technicaly close to a remake (or shall I say revision) of MG2: SS? When I played it, I noticed many similarities to the first MGS game and when I googled it, I found I wasn't alone in seeing them.
Off the top of my head, I can remember Hind D battles in both, battles with invisible enemies in a lift, hand to hand Grey Fox fight, Grey Fox anonymously contacting Snake via radio and probably loads more I've forgotten.
