What a way to stick it to their consumers... I have no problem with them making their own proprietary for the Vita. However, it is a problem when the price can't even come close to SDHC prices. They should have just went with SDHC and I am not sure why they didn't. SDHC is perfectly fine and prices are dropping like crazy for it.

They didnt so that they could price the Vita at 249$. Exactly like Microsoft did with their HDD. Smart move, that strategy works better then selling the console at a more expensive price point, the mass consumers proved that...
To everyone, is it really proved that some games requires a memory card in order to play them?

Some games do require the cards. For example, the flagship game, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, will require a card. Link
