This has to be a planned event by the user. What I mean is if I want to play LBP2 on the Vita I would had to have planned this by putting the disc in my PS3 and leaving it switched on and signed in. So an impulsive session is out of the question on full titles.
Wireless or 3G required, 3G is very hit and miss.
I see the best use of this as multiplayer control in the same room and not as a way of streaming games whilst out of the home. |
The PS3 has a remote start feature which while let you turn it on via Remote play through the internet. I've done this on both PSP and my SONY Vaio. You can use this to access all of your videos, music and movies on the PS3 or an connected flashdrive/external hard drive. Also, the few games that do support the feature (on PSP, never tried games on the Vaio). When you exit remote play you're given the option to shut down your system or leave it running as well. The only real point is that you wouldn't be able to switch the inserted disc, which is kinda obvious.

Which is the key point I would have thought.
The fix is easy though... allow full installs (a la 360) but control the rights to that in some way other than the disc having to be present in the host. The best solution is obvious.... no physical media - downloded game hosted on the machine or in the cloud.
As long as the presence of a disc is required the remote play (away from home) feature is compromised.

PS3 can be remoteley turned on over the internet, fair enough you will have to remember to leave a disk in to play a disk game, but you can still access all your download games. Id hardly call it a compromised feature.
Its a pretty sweet feature, im just hoping Nintendo will make there version run over the internet as well and not just in the house.

And where are you going to find thisso called internet connection onthe road? 3G is too slow.
