I fully agree about the Sony exclusives not meeting expectations argument, however i think its safe to say that Uncharted is the exception to that. U3 will cross 5 million LT thats for sure, and in doing so meet or exceed U2 sales, which is a success in my opinion. Perhaps not the growth some of use here wanted to see...but a success none the less. I look at all the other exclusives of Sony: Motorstorm, Little Big planet, Killzone, Resistance, etc. the design decisions made for those games were a bit off. They lack accessibility. Motorstorm was unique. Little Big Planet platforming feels floaty, and concentrates more on designing stages (not something most people like to do), killzone 2's laggy controls really dented the prospects of the franchise, and Resistance is another unique game. All of those franchises have a shrinking fan base. But i think Uncharted and God of war 3 (an already established franchise) got it right this gen. God of war 3 was never gonna sell too much, and Uncharted is already a success with a solid fanbase. To be honest uncharted is looking like the only new franchise Sony can take into the next gen. Gran turismo is a whole other story on its own I also think we jumping the gun on Uncharted 3 sales performance, this is only second week prelimenary data afterall, and its facing some heavy competition. |
agreed bout GOW and UC and believe 3 can get to as high as 6M, UC is really the break out of this gens PS exclusives, no one was expecting it to be what it is now when DF released and even prior, can see it go to next gen but wouldnt mind seeing another franchise similar in gameplay but with a more mature and serious tone and less humor and wit
GOW is a continuation from last gen though and while impressed with its performance other than UC and even heavy rain there hasnt been any new "things", or more importantly things that can compete and/or offer what sony biggest competition MS has offered this gen, at least by my personal tastes
