Can we restart this thread then?

I think the momentum from Kinect and the 360 slim has slowed down significantly, PS3 is looking to have a very strong year in 2012. If Sony can keep the price competitive and they advertise in America then the gap should close by Autumn 2012.

I'm not sure... I agree Kinect has slowed, but, on the PS3 front Move has stopped completely.  This was an epic year for PS3 from a gamer's perspective.  Uncharted 3, another God of War collection, Resistance 3, Infamous 2, etc. and a $50 price drop...  I don't see how PS3 will eclipse the numbers they have this year in 2012.

Meanwhile 360 had no price drop in the past two years (in fact the average selling price of 360 probably went up with Kinect and Slim) and are relying more on 3rd parties to hold the fort for gamers.

If Microsoft didn't like their position they would have pulled a price drop this holiday season, but the lack of a price drop shows they are happy with their position.  Next year Microsoft will hype up Star Wars Kinect for the holiday season appealing to the casual gamer and competing with the Wii U, Halo 4 will probably be out there, and they will probably drop the price at least $50 putting more pressure on Sony and Nintendo.  Also, Nintendo will release Wii U which will sell well for at least a while.
