PETA Creates “Mario Kills Tanooki” Campaign, because Mario said it’s Okay to Wear Fur

Are PETA just against animal cruelty, or are they against the consumption of meat too? After all it doesn't explain in Mario whether or not he killed it humanely and ate the meat, all that red meat might explain why he's so plump despite all the jumping about.
