There is no evidence that the death penalty works as a deterrent against crime.
@Babuk. Two things.
1) The system should be trying to get justice - not revenge for the victim.
2) Murder rates do not spike after the abolishment of the death penalty - they don't even increase and usually decrease. Therefore the death penalty is not an effective deterrent.
