ok heres what you do. im not sure was operating system you are running so im going to assume its windows. go to control panel, then sound. make sure the playback tab is selected at the top. now there should be a list of all the audio codecs currently installed on your computer. i would suggest playing some music when you open this so you can see which one is the active one via the frequency bar to the right of each codec. a sample list is speakers, digital output device (hdmi), and then speakers/hp. thats what mine says at least. now all you have to do is double click the one you want to run audio then click set default. now if you currently have a program open it will not change the codec automatically (at least on windows vista) because generally the program cant change codecs while being used unless its recording software. you need to restart the program (im guessing windows media player or something similar) and then it should be playing from the new codec. hope this helps.
