wait so does "xbox advertising" differ from "kinect advertising"?

Kinect is a beast of its own.

Isn't it amazing how MS marketing almost always gives everybody a different but usually awkward feeling, often neglecting the actual advertised product altogether and focusing instead on the advertising itself?

It gets people talking about Kinect, which ultimately matters more to MS as they can get more people to buy it afterwards.

That's for sure! "Life is short" for XB1 was very funny, and hadn't MS gimped its project at the last time (from Athlon down to PIII/Celeron hybrid, RAM halved from 128MB to 64MB) forcing many devs of PC/XB1 multiplats to cripple them too, I wouldn't have hated it, that ad could have even made me love it. And one of the first ads for XB360, the one with people fighting at the station, pretending their fingers  were weapons, was awesome too. But this makes me wonder why MS doesn't make such ads anymore and reverted to its usual appalling and/or patronising ones. Getting people to talk about the product is good, and being talked about bad is always better than being ignored, but MS definitely knew how to get better reactions...
