Colloquialism for being a jerk-ass, a person with crass intent, someone who's out to just step on the way other people look at things. It's about the semantic difference between "mainline" and "real" in the context of the OP and subsequent conversations wherein an implicit (and later explicit) devaluation of alternative perspectives comes into play.
I don't care what anyone thinks constitutes "real" Mario or Mega Man or Zelda; I just care when they use that value set to piss on other people.
