The relevant Wikipedia article suggests that she was NOT a plumber but a social worker, although she also apparently was involved in sanitation. Although I did not see specific evidence against it, it seems unlikely the account of the toolbox, dog, etc. are true and representative of her incredibly courageous work. She also worked with a couple dozen others, which explains how she was able to save 12 children a week.
This isn't nearly as bad (inaccurate) as a lot of the other "inspirational" stories I see circulating, but it still hurts me to see anything like this that can't get its facts straight. I feel it's a disservice not only to the readers but also to the people like Irena Sendler who are supposedly being honored. (Or, as in this case, used to take a political cheap shot.)
I'm sure you didn't know that when you posted it; I hope that, knowing it, you won't.
