Like I said, 360 has a chance of cutting the gap. The gap this year is 1.5 million, which isn't huge. I think 360 should be able to cut it to the 500k-1 million range. doubt it.

For colours, isn't white one of the colours this fall? White has been promoted several times, and I think red has been done before too. the white not sure about the red one.

Actually BF3 boosted 360 sales by 33% and PS3 sales by 20%. It boosted 360 more, but PS3 was just a little too far ahead of 360 for it to make 360 lead. However MW3 is a bigger game, it will break that threshold. i'm not so sure about that. PS3 is rolling of a month where its sells were higher.

COD on PS3 is a more recognizable brand? Did you forget the PSN Catastrophe? CoD is a shooter, shooters are big on 360 => CoD is a 800lb Ape on Steroids with 360. i didn't say its more recognizable. i siad its becoming more recognizable to PS3 users. not the outside the inside. those who already own the console.

as for the PSN Catastrophe. not many users cared about it as PSN reported an increase in user base on PSN and an increase in PSN sells. not did you forget about that?

MW3 for PS3 almost dipped below Black Ops Pre-Orders, and is only looking to be above Black Ops Pre-Orders by a week. 3 weeks before release, MW3 on 360 topped Black Ops total Pre-orders. MW3 on 360 may end up with 50% the Black Ops, but for PS3, the jump may only be 20%. good point but the same could be said for the BF3 situation.

As for the CoD Gap.....I've heard your arguement before, ad there is a simple answer. Look at the tie ratios. PS3 and 360 have been selling nearly on par for the last few years. So a 5 million hardware gap in 2007 plays a critical role when there are only 20-25 million consoles out there versus a 2 million hardware gap when there are nearly 60 million consoles out there. If you pay attention the the tie ratio (units of CoD sold compared to hardware units) 360 has always had more, and in fact, on 360 the tie ratio is growing faster then on PS3. good point but ratios mean nothing to me even as a business major. i'm more on the marketing side so that could be the reason why.

i'm looking at the market and whats going on now not yr's past. yea sure MW3 sells will boost hardware and the 360 boost may be bigger. looking at preorders you'd think that. but for 1 minute lets put preorders to the side. theres one unknown variable and that's those who don't prorder. the other is we don't know what EMEAA preorders are. another variable is how much the PS3's pricecut will affect sells during that wk ww. yea sure COD games haven't helped PS3 in those areas before but neither has BF3 and we both know how hat turned out. don't give me any crap about PS3 pricecut lossing its affect either.

the best we can hope for at this point is that either 360 sells boost equals that of the EMEAA PS3 at present time cuase the wayi see it thats about all it can do looking at recent wk's. but i'll wait for Nov. first wk numbers come in then we'll se how thing will likely playout.

i look at it ike this. what ever 360 sells in Americas the wk MW3 comes out PS3 EMEAA will likely sell the same and Japan will either even it out or give PS3 then win for that wk. if not that PS3 won't be that far behind in sells the wk of or after.

there is a real possiblity 360 will lead those 2 wks but just like GEARS3 UC3 will have an effect that wk aswell so either as i said sells will average out or one will lead the other but i won't say anything until next wk numbers come in. its the 1st wk of Nov. right? i'll look at the americas and EMEAA to see what UC3 did and if the hardwar boost was significant then the next wk which is MW3 wk we'll know what will happen. but i expect EMEAA and Americas to cancel out.

As for Black Ops legs, only after PSN went down, and there was a limited edition Black Ops PS3 bundle, did Black Ops start to sell more units on PS3 then 360. CoD doesn;t necessarily have better legs on P3 then 360. They are just more stable, where 360's legs are really fat along the thighs (the first 6 months). lol. there is no bundle now so why have sell increased?

BF3 weeks 360 saw a boost of 71k (36%) and PS3 saw a boost of 50k (20%). BF3 still boosted 360 by a bigger factor, and MW3 will have the same effect only greater.

Pre-Orders for BF3....BF3 still boosted 360 by a larger fraction then on PS3, and pre-ordered mimicked sales in Americas (both games sold about 40% better then pre-orders). PS3 has EMEAA, but CoD sells nearly 3/4ths its 360 sales in Americas, and 2/3rds it's PS3 sales in Americas.

Tie Ratios mean everything when you are talking about which game is more popular on which franchise. You need to look at more then just raw numbers

As for predicting sales in the upcoming weeks...lets just wait and see. I'm no analyst, and can't say your wrong.

Black Ops - I agreed with you that after 6 months PS3 sales for the game were stronger. Post Gears 3 it makes sense for the 360 sales to drop, but BO got more popular on PS3 in July, 2 months before Gears. So yes it has legs on PS3, but the legs are just as long on 360, and much much fatter earlier on, then only minimally smaller late in life. The bundle was just where the turning point was, and it helped start the rise for PS3 versions.
