I believe Nintendo unveiled the Vitality Sensor in 2009, so this might be as old, if not more. Some articles I found on Google mentioned something similar to this, but this seems a lot newer than those articles, since they mentioned only the Move and the pictures are a lot different.

phinch pointed out that the patent included the move controller. So it may not be too old. Should be interesting what comes out of it.



probably won't see anything for 10 years, companies patent stuff like this all the time. Apple have been sitting on some biometric phone feature patents for a few years as well http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/09/apple-patent-biometrics/
