Without knowing what they were planning to do, or the changes that they have made, it is a little difficult to say either way ...

hypothetically speaking, Nintendo could have (or could be) making substantial changes which will improve the sales performance of the Wii U that we would not be aware of. Suppose the Wii U was initially targeting a March 2012 release date with a $349 price tag and only supporting one tablet controller, with many of their network services and additional features being launched in the months that followed, and Nintendo decided that it would be better to launch October 2012 at $299 with a bundled game, supporting two tablet controllers, with all their services available from day one; not only would the price and value presented by this system be better, but the launch line-up would (potentially) be substantially stronger being that launch games would have 6 additional months of development, and games that were planned to be released between the initial launch and the adjusted launch date would be released at (or soon after) the Wii U's new launch.
