What made you change your mind then?

The big game changer is Nokia pretty much dropping Meego as their platform before they even launched a device with it. As far as anyone outside of Nokia knows, the N9 will be the only device from Nokia to run Meego officially. As a result, Meego won't have much of a chance to garner anything more than a cult following (like my current N900 and Maemo 5). Meego and the N9 could've made a huge splash if Nokia put more faith into it, but when Stephen Elop took the reigns everyone pretty much expected Nokia to go in this direction.

Have you seen the N9 and Meego in action? If not, I'd highly recommend looking it up. The N9 is the most beautiful piece of phone hardware I've ever seen.

Yeah, on one hand it's a shame that they're really letting it grow, because it seems like it might potential. But on the other hand, they're leaving it for WP7, and because I'm a huge WP7 fanboy, I'm having a hard time feeling really sad about it.

Whether Stephen Elop made the right decision will be hard to tell though, since we'll never really know what MeeGo could have become. But I think he has a good point in wanting an ecosystem with support from other OEMs and a software giant like Microsoft, Nokia needs to get back on its feet afterall, and establishing a new ecosystem can be tricky to pull off.
