Why not wait until the third new model instead? Afterall, Nintendo tends to make multiple new models.
They still have NOT confirmed that there isn't going to be another new model of the DS, so don't buy that one yet either.

But really, I just don't want to be shafted by Nintendo, which is why I'm going to try and hold off until a new model is announced, I mean, I can't see it NOT being announced, especially if more games start using dual analogues...
